Why is the iron core of 22kv power transformer 1000kva oil immersed grounded?

When a power transformer is operating normally, the iron core must have a reliable grounding point. Without grounding, the floating voltage between the iron core and the ground would cause intermittent breakdown discharge between the iron core and the ground. Once the iron core is grounded at just one point, the possibility of forming a floating potential on the iron core is eliminated. However, when the iron core has more than one grounding point, the uneven potential between the iron cores will form a circulating current between the grounding points, causing overheating at multiple grounding points of the iron core. This can lead to a multi-point grounding fault where the iron core shorts out, resulting in increased iron loss, which seriously affects the performance and normal operation of the transformer, and may even cause a trip due to a heavy gas action.

The burned and melted local iron core can cause a short circuit between the iron chips, increasing the iron loss and seriously affecting the performance and normal operation of the transformer, requiring replacement of the silicon steel sheets of the iron core for repair. Therefore, 22kv power transformer 1000kva oil immersed is not allowed to have multiple grounding points; it can only have and must have exactly one grounding point.
